Roxy Musings

With the death of Halifax Locals behind us, it‘s time to celebrate something new.

I give you Roxy, the latest member of the Lewis-MacLeod family! She started as a house guest after quickly needing some muscle and intimidation to combat the recently discovered evidence of rodents while fixing a broken basement window. Roxy did not kill any of these mice, per se, but her mere presence helped us all rest in peace, while two mice ended up resting in pieces under the pressure of some well-placed traps.

It turns out, Roxy was also looking for a fresh start herself after continually butting-heads with her sibling, Junebug, who lives down the road.

It has been a couple of years since we have had a cat in our home (see Sydney & Willy). Willy (a sort-of-cousin to Roxy) ended up getting very sick, very quickly and Sydney just was never the same once we introduced children and other animals to our home. Thanks to the Witless Feline Relocation Program, she lives quietly away from us where she can get all the attention and even more undivided attention she needs.

Have you seen this cat?

One black new-to-the-out-of-doors kitty cat has been missing since yesterday morning (Wednesday, June 11th). Responds to Sydney or Syd Vicious. Last spotted in the Hydrostone area near Agricola and Young Street. She is wearing a purple collar with contact info inside. Please drop me a note if you have any information regarding Sydney's whereabouts.

UPDATE: The cat came back this morning! Huzzah!

north end smudge cats! ash grey cats! need good homes!

Here is a message from a friend:

Hi everyone,

I am circulating these pictures of 5 kittens that are presently living in the crazy yard next door. Their mother is a stray here in the North End and these little guys might be destined for the same. I have called the SPCA and they will not take them, well they will but only to be euthanized. If you know anyone who is looking for a kitten, let me know. Or you can also get in touch with Susanna Fuller at susannadfuller@gmail.com.

pass on the pics, if you don't mind.

Thanks,
Adriana

abandoned kitty cat

my neighbour evacuated his apartment under fairly, unfortunate circumstances.
he left his little kitty, binks, behind.

it's definetly understandable that he doesn't plan on ever coming back to the apartment, but poor binks has nobody.
i feed him every day, and i play with him all the time. i wish i could take him in, but edie sedgwick doesn't get along with other cats. and there's really not enough space to house two kitties.

i've called the SPCA, they told me they can't take him because the kennel is under quarantine. they also told me i should contact the police, because it was a case of abandonment,
i called the police, they told me they don;t deal with that kind of thing, and that i should call the SPCA.

i don't know what to do about poor binks!! he's so sad and lonely.

anyone have any advice?

Hello Kitty Cat Humilation System

I found this Hello Kitty cat outfit on Gizmodo, tagged as "Animal Abuse." I don't know, it's kind of cute. You get two collars, a cat hat (you know, so your cat can dress up like a cat), and some kind of kitty carrying sac.

I wish I lived in Japan.
